Champions Project
The Family Champions project is facilitated by PYOP and offers short term practical support to parents in the home with a variety
of outreach support packages for families and carers with
children aged 0-13.
As a parent, you want what’s
best for you and your child, even though things may be difficult
at times. We all need encouragement and support from time
to time, this may be long or short-term help depending on
differing circumstances.
Family Champions workers help parents
who may need a form of assistance, from single parents trying
to manage with lots of children to families coping with an
illness or those going through counselling or a particularly
difficult time need not struggle on alone. If there is an
illness or disability in the family it might prove difficult
getting children ready for school. Parents may need help with
the school run in the morning or supporting children with
behavioural difficulties or special needs.
Family Champions is a joint initiative
with Sure Start ABC and On-Track. Family Champion workers spend most of their
time with families in the home out of school hours –
either early mornings or afternoons, when
the children are at home and help is most needed.
